The Year Ends and the New Decade begins
Now, as 2019 comes to a close, I turn inward.
I am beginning my fifth home retreat in my studio, spending approximately twelve hours per day in solitude. Since January 2016, three of my home retreats have been between 100 and 115 days. Last year's retreat was much shorter, as I was committed to carrying out an ambitious plan to share my seventh book. From November 2018 through November 2019, I participated in nineteen events in a variety of venues -- from Colorado east as far as Boston and New York, and west as far as the Pacific coast. Now, as 2020 begins, I begin again to live the creative life described in Beginning Again: Reflections on Art as Spiritual Practice.
