Recent and Upcoming Events
The process of sharing my new book, Beginning Again: Reflections on Art as Spiritual Practice, continues. On February 19th I read from the book to a warm audience at Innisfree Poetry Bookstore and Cafe in Boulder.
Then on February 20th I taught a class titled "Writing as Drawing: Visualizing Prayers and Aspirations" at Naropa University in a class on "The Contemplative Artist." For years I have worked on drawings that visualize my values, especially around lovingkindness and compassion. In this workshop I offered the students an invitation to join me, first, to reflect about what values are most important to them, and second, to write those as prayers or aspirations with graphite on paper, again and again. This process of repeating prayers and aspirations can be a powerful and affirming process of developing deeper self-knowledge and resilience.
This week on Tuesday February 26th I join filmmakers RIchard and Melody Kane at a screening of their film on artist M. C. Richards, The Fire Within. The screening is at 6pm at the Longmont Senior Center. And then, on Wednesday February 27th I will read from Beginning Again at the Tattered Cover Bookstore, LoDo in Denver. Please join me at these events!
